Car Share BOP is a web-based application that promotes the idea of sharing a journey for travel in the Bay of Plenty region. By encouraging people to leave their cars at home whenever they can, we help improve air quality, reduce traffic congestion, save money on fuel and promote better health.

Car Share BOP helps you find people to share a ride with by finding other people who live near you or along your route and have similar work schedules and lifestyle preferences.

Car Share BOP helps to:

• reduce the cost of parking;
• lower stress through reduced congestion and improved socialising;
• improve air quality;
• gain useable time for passengers; read, sleep, work, and talk;
• increase the transport options available; and
• provide a flexible yet safe way to travel.

Once you have registered, you can check the matches you have for your route and days of travel.  If you choose to make contact with matches, add their name to the email list, edit our standard email (if you want to) and the system will email your message to them.

You can also use this website to log how you travel each day and calculate the dollars, kilometres, fuel and emissions saved.
